Welcome to Springhill Medical Center’s Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
Approximately 400 procedures are performed each month making it one of the busiest and most efficient catheterization laboratories (cath labs) in Mobile.
Springhill Medical Center is the only hospital in Mobile with dual-plane, full body catheterization visualization equipment. This unique state-of-the-art technology allows the doctor to see not only the heart, but veins and arteries that may be blocked in other parts of the body.
Our cath lab has four state-of-the-art procedure rooms for performing numerous heart and vessel imaging studies and treatments. In addition, we have 11 monitored recovery rooms for post-procedure care. This means cardiologists can identify, diagnose and treat a multitude of heart problems.
Springhill Medical Center’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab has 25 highly trained staff members operating in teams of three. Each team consists of two registered nurses and a scrub technician. The post-procedure care team is provided by qualified nurses and a support staff. All of our nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). In addition, the cath lab has an emergency crew available 24 hours, seven days a week, with a response time under 30 minutes. Our cath lab strives to be the best lab in Mobile where our patients and physicians can rely upon our outstanding staff to provide the best cardiac services in Mobile in a courteous, caring, family-oriented manner. To help us accomplish this mission, SMC also provides the unique services of a physician-staff-family liaison.
