The cardiac rehabilitation program typically begins 2-4 weeks following a heart attack or 6-8 weeks after heart surgery. The program typically lasts 12 weeks, meeting 3 times weekly for a total of 36 sessions. During exercise you will be carefully monitored by a registered nurse and an exercise physiologist who will determine your tolerance to exercise and assess your progress. The cardiac rehabilitation program also includes educational classes.
