Once again, it is almost time to Step Up… to Scale Back!  The Alabama Department of Public Health sponsors Scale Back Alabama, a free statewide 10-week weight-loss program. Since its first competition in 2007, Alabamians have lost more than one million pounds! It is designed to encourage Alabamians to get healthy and to have fun while doing it. Scale Back Alabama is geared toward adults and is primarily operated with the help of local employers, hospitals and health departments. Individuals compete on teams of TWO to win the chance at cash prizes.
Small behavior changes and healthier food choices can have a huge impact on an individual’s weight and their over-all health. A healthy diet and an exercise routine can lower blood pressure, lower blood sugar, and improve cholesterol levels.
We want you to be one of the
“success” statistics for the 2016 Scale Back Alabama program! Program
flyers will be distributed in
January. Plan to participate and become eligible for cash prizes. Weigh in at Springhill Athletic Club.  Please call Sheila Egbert, RD, CDE, at 460-5367 if you have any questions about the program.  Or, log onto for details of the contest.
The important dates to be aware of for 2016 Scale Back Alabama are:
Weigh-in week: January 25 - 31
Weigh-out week: April 11 - 17
Announcement of winners and prizes is April 29.
