Springhill's Chef Ellen Takes Top Honors

November 3, 2011

For a second year in a row, Springhill's own Ellen Jones, Chef de Cuisine, took top honors in the 2011 March of Dimes Celebrity Chef Auction Charity Event.

Chef Ellen and her culinary team of caterers, Samuel Spencer and Joshua Lee, posted the highest bid paid for raffling off a “Signature Meal” to the 250-plus attendees at the annual charity fundraising event.

Chef Ellen and her team rose above such fellow competitors as True Restaurant, Felix’s Fish Camp, Naman's Catering, Tyner’s Catering, Pinzone’s Italian of Fairhope and Del Fuego’s, just to name a few, with her hand made Fish Taco’s with Lime Cilantro Créma.

"We wound up hand making over 360 individual tacos," said Chef Ellen, "and, at times, the line at our table was three deep, with many coming back for seconds and thirds.”

SMC was the only healthcare facility to participate and support this worthy cause.

Lead Caterer Samuel Spencer reports that one attendee said, ”even if I have to get sick, I’m coming to Springhill to eat!"

Chef Ellen wishes to thank SMC Administration for their support of her culinary efforts and for supporting the March of Dimes.
