Laura Armstrong is Alabama’s Outstanding Young Dietitian of the Year

Springhill Medical Center’s Critical Care Dietitian, Laura Armstrong, was recently awarded Alabama Dietetic Association’s “Outstanding Young Dietitian of the Year.” She was first awarded on the local level from the Mobile District Dietetic Association and advanced to the state level. She will go to Huntsville on March 7 to formally receive the award at the ALDA’s annual meeting. 
Armstrong has served as SMC’s Critical Care Dietitian for the ICU for three years. She also spearheaded National Nutrition Month activities at SMC. She is a past recipient of the Food and Nutrition Department’s Employee of the Month and “Person of the Month” for her dedication and positivity in the workplace.
Armstrong has been an active member in the MDDA serving as the President Elect in 2010-11, the Association President in 2011-12, and is currently the Association’s Public Relations Chairman. She also serves currently on the state level for the ALDA as the CPEU Chairman. In addition she is very active in the Mobile community and helps with health fairs promoting a healthy lifestyle with FOX 10 and Scale Back Alabama.
Springhill Medical Center is a 252-bed acute care hospital accredited by TJC.
