United Way Recognizes SMC
United Way of Southwest Alabama recognized SMC as its Outstanding Corporate Sponsor.

The United Way of Southwest Alabama awarded Springhill Medical Center the 2021 Outstanding Corporate Partner for an organization with more than 50 employees. Mr. Jeff St. Clair, SMC President/CEO, attended the award reception in August where the recognition was announced. He also participated in the United Way of Southwest Alabama's 2022 Kickoff on the Uncle Henry Show.

Longstanding partnerships are vital to our community’s success. Since 1975, Springhill Medical Center has been a local leader in one of United Way of Southwest Alabama’s key focus areas: our community’s health. The mission of the hospital is to be the best health care provider in Mobile where patients, physicians, and payers can rely on their staff to efficiently provide health care that is high quality, convenient, and beneficial to the patients overall care.

In addition to the strides they have made in healthcare and education over the last 40+ years, Springhill is also a leader in philanthropy ... starting with senior leadership. The hospital's founder, Dr. Gerald L. Wallace, and his wife, Mrs. Celia Wallace, were early supporters of the United Way of Southwest Alabama and instilled the importance of giving in their team at Springhill.

The hospital and staff have invested nearly $750,000 into the community through United Way’s annual community campaigns and continue to support United Way work through their current CEO, Mr. Jeffrey St. Clair.

"We are honored to continue such a valued partnership with Springhill Medical Center and are looking forward to working alongside them to improve the overall health of our community, one patient or one person at a time," said United Way of SW Alabama CEO Jill Chenoweth.
